Reading through the last hours of Christ's life and His torture, execution are hard, as was watching a depiction in the movie, "the Passion". Innocence degraded in any instance is hard to understand...those responsible, whose mind set is destruction is ...words cannot describe it...unfathomable?...
It is soooooo opposite of the kindness....
And then not to take responsibility for it and try to place the blame on others is just wrong....but it has been happening since the beginning of mankind...
There are times, I don't personally want to take responsibility for something and try to pawn it off on others, but it come back to bite...so it is easier to own up to it in the first place..
These Jewish leaders had an agenda in Matthew 27 and they used others in accomplishing it...persuasions, underhandedness, untruths, ---what leaders they were! Not wanting to take responsibility for their sinful ways...no accountability ....
It is easy in hindsight to see what was happening with the related words and pictures of the time, and it is not hard to find the same situations happening in the present day...and we have it constantly thrown our faces with so much communication...
Father, help me to be responsible, to be accountable in honesty, integrity of the gifts, life, resources You have given so liberally. Not blaming others for my faults, not making others do the "dirty" work...not committing evil to others...
Matthew 27:4, 20, 24 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”
