“Disruptive moments”....
Dr. David Jeremiah writes of “disruptive moments” in his study,”When Your World Falls Apart”.
Looking back on this year, the first two months were normal it seems, then the “disruptive moments “ started in big time...and it hasn’t returned to our old normal since...everyday was a new edict, new rule, new discovery, new illness, another death...there seemed to be no “catching your breath” in the race...just constant barrages of negative news ...
This, when we thought the year 2020 would add clarity to our lives and it has...we have no control...nothing is perfect...change is inevitable...normal is not necessarily normal...what is normal to one person may not be normal to another...
In many ways we feel imprisoned by the illness that is relentlessly making its way through the world population...it is no respecter of culture...
Now we have added the political turmoil and cultural unrest...another layer of disruption...
I was reminded of this portion of scripture this week...Paul was a prisoner as he wrote this...
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Ephesians 4:1-6
No matter the “disruptive moment”, the length of them or even the depth, we are called to live a life worthy of the calling we have received...humble, gentle, patient, bearing with one another, unified, at peace, with our hope in Christ...
Further John speaks of our love for one another...
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34-35
My takeaway message for myself from these “disruptive moments” ....and they have not been just this year...they have been over a lifetime, good ones and not so good ones...
*what is God trying to teach me?
*how is He using it for good?
*look for Him in each day...his fingerprints
*how can I comfort others because of His comfort?
And so many others...
Thank YOU....through the “disruptive moments”....even when I may not want to give thanks...it brings a peace that passes all understanding...
