Recorded voices....

Recorded voices .....

As my children were growing up, we recorded their voices telling stories, talking to grandparents, reading a book...each on a cassette tape...
Then, a few years ago, I had those cassettes recorded on to DVDs and made into an album for each person.

I, also had my father record his memorable rendition of the Night Before Christmas on talking books for each of his grandchildren...

Again, during the last month of my husband's life, he and his brother were recorded telling stories of their childhood.

So we have voices of grandparents, parents, children as records of those lives...their sounds, stories, laughter, the inflections, the tones...to remember days past...and to remember them...

Through recorded history, there have been historical recordings of voices..descriptions of that voice when recordings weren't available. Adam and Eve walking and talking in the garden with God, Moses on the mount, Noah getting instructions for the boat,  Abraham  hearing the call to move, Samuel listening in the night, Elijah waiting for the still voice, Jesus in the garden...Paul in prison...Alexander Bell on a telephone, kids on strings and cans...Conversations of trillions of people down through the ages...some recorded, most not...

But, God hears even the faintest whisper and knows the words we say even before they are on our lips...He whispers into our hearts and souls the words we need ....He has given us the written Word as well, so that we are without excuse of His being....we have that recorded written Word...

Thank YOU for Your Word, written in many languages and written into the hearts of people...Your Holy Spirit who speaks truth... Help me listen and hear...as well as do...

Genesis 35:11-13 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants. The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.” Then God went up from him at the place where he had talked with him.

Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Psalm 102:18 Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord:

Romans 2:15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.

John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
