Prophet and King…accountability partner…
Jesus taught so much by parables, stories…they make the concepts memorable and teachable…
When reading 2 Samuel 12, that was my first thought…Nathan , the prophet, approaching David with the story the rich man and the poor man…he got his attention immediately and David was emotionally involved and when the story turned to implicate him, he was convicted and realized his sin against the Lord…
Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”…..
2Sam.12.1a
It was a reminder to me of what Jesus said and we find written in John about the Holy Spirit…
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.
John.14.25-26,John.15.26
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John.16.13
The Lord sent Nathan to David…..
Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.
2Sam.12.1a, 13
David wrote this Psalm after Nathan’s confrontation with Nathan…
Have mercy on me, O God,according to your unfailing love;according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight;so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways,so that sinners will turn back to you.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.
You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;a broken and contrite heart-you, God, will not despise.
May it please you to prosper Zion,to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,in burnt offerings offered whole;then bulls will be offered on your altar.
Ps.51.1-19
Thank YOU…
Create in me a clean heart…

“Throughout Scripture, you will find that the kings had prophets that God assigned to them to be ambassadors of His truth. David had Nathan. Ahab had Elijah. Herod had John.”https://josiahkagin.com/2023/04/11/every-king-had-a-prophet/
