Lights, lights and more lights....

Lights , lights and more lights....

This year Christmas lights are everywhere...they arrived earlier than usual...they are entertaining more...bringing more cheer and joy in this unusually hard year...

We seek light...in the darkness...

From the beginning to the end of the Bible, God’s Word speaks  light into being...into our lives...

Just reading through all the scriptures this am which reference light, brought me to tears...He wants us to seek Him...His light...

It made me think on times when light was so meaningful ...visiting the replica of the Temple in Florida with its lamp stand shining inside the golden walls, no place was without light...various light shows, fireworks in the Fourth of July or New Years Eve...thunderstorms with bolts of lightning surrounding the mountains or plains....rays of light showing through the dark clouds...sunrises over the oceans, mountains, valleys.....light, how it draws us closer, how it fills our hearts with wonder...in the big times and the little...

That’s what we need in our wonder of Christmas...to be drawn to the Baby Jesus...who brought His light to the world...He came to seek...He came to teach, He came to show forth His light...He came to redeem us from darkness to His  light ....Thank YOU for lights, Lights and more lights...reminders of You...

“Remember saints, the light shines brightest in the darkness and the worst of times are the best of times for the hope of Jesus!” Pastor Brett’s quote....

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning —the fourth day.

Genesis 1:3-4,14-19

Exodus 39:37

You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

2 Samuel 22:29

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

Psalm 18:28

when his lamp shone on my head and by his light I walked through darkness!

Job 29:3

The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine on us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.

Psalm 118:27

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:105,130

The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.

Proverbs 20:27

“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,

Isaiah 42:6

After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.

Isaiah 53:11

The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.

Isaiah 60:19-20

He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.

Daniel 2:22

the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Matthew 4:16

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:8-14

33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”

Luke 11:33-36

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:1-5

5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 9:5

46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

John 12:46

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6

(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)

Ephesians 5:9

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:17

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.

There will be no more night.

They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light.

And they will reign for ever and ever.

Revelation 21:23-24,22:5
