Be on guard...

I really started this after reading Mark 13, “be on guard, stay alert, watch”...was reinstated several times...Jesus wanted his disciples’ attention! As well as everyone who reads this passage... be on guard!!!

But, then as I looked up that statement, there was much more...

There were guards who watched for the security of the temple..our hearts...

Guards who watched the gate against enemies...what we let into our lives...

Guards who watch over provisions...

We are told to guard our faithfulness...against sin...against greed...wrong teachings...plus watching for the end time times...

Be ready in all things, the day to day, our hearts, the end, the future...

Thank YOU...help me to be on guard...watching, faithful to You...

Guards for the temple...

Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid. He placed it beside the altar, on the right side as one enters the temple of the Lord. The priests who guarded the entrance put into the chest all the money that was brought to the temple of the Lord .

2 Kings 12:9

He said to me, “The room facing south is for the priests who guard the temple, and the room facing north is for the priests who guard the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who are the only Levites who may draw near to the Lord to minister before him. ”

Ezekiel 40:45-46

Guards for the city...against the enemy...

I said to them, “The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses.”

Nehemiah 7:3

 Guard for the provision, master...

The one who guards a fig tree will eat its fruit, and whoever protects their master will be honored.

Proverbs 27:18

Guard your faithfulness...

Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.

Malachi 2:15

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13 

Guard against sin...

6 “Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Luke 12:15

Guard against wrong teachings...

Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.

2 Timothy 4:14-15

Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

2 Peter 3:17-18 

Be on guard for the end times...

Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 

9 “You must be on your guard. 

You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. 

On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 

23 So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time. 

33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
