Outdated…
Having been ill off and on for the last two years, I realized I have a bunch of outdated food items in my pantry and cupboards…plus, I am baking less and less, getting fresh more often…and using it sooner…so time to purge….
I have a grandson close-by who gives the food stuffs to his chickens, which is a worthy cause for some things, others are dumped into the garbage bins…
Years ago, when my four children and husband were home, I rarely had outdated anything…items went into the pantry and cupboards only to be used up soon…I never had growing onions or potatoes in the bins…everything pretty much had a quick turnaround…
I did the freezer the other day…now kitchen cupboards and pantry…It’s amazing how much stuff gets pushed behind something else…leaving one of this or that…crushed items, etc…
The other day I found a can of marinated artichokes, I think I wanted one can, but got two instead…of course, what a treat to add to my “three bean salad “…(this recipe changes every time I make it)…
All this to remind myself not to let Jesus and his Word get stale and outdated…in my life…every time I read the Word, even a few verses, I learn something new and refreshing…wondering why I hadn’t seen that before, is it new each day…the same from generation to generation…alive, speaking to those whose hearts are open…
Thank YOU…
Psalm 119: 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
ג Gimel
17 Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. 18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.
Hebrews4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Thy Word…
