Fruit trees...

Fruit trees...

One year ago, I moved into another home, taking with me fruit trees I had babied all summer to be planted in a new home...

The landscaper fulfilled his promise, diligently planting each, hooking up drip systems which have worked well...but this one tree just wasn’t doing as well as the others this spring and summer....I have repeatedly turned extra water on to it...it bloomed and produced 6 little pears, then wilted away with no new growth on the limbs....was so sad..until yesterday i wiggled the whole tree and pulled it out of the ground...no new roots protruded from the original root ball, ground was so dry it crumbled in my hand. So I followed the drip line, pulling it out of the ground and found out it had been shut off at some time this spring...so no life giving water for who knows how long.... it was dry...

It will be replaced today, the drip system checked again...but as I cut the former tree into chunks to fit into the dumpster, I was reminded how much we need water...it was 96 degrees and had been in the nineties for weeks and here was this innocent tree trying to just survive let alone thrive and couldn’t make it...

I know that may sound trite,  but almost daily we read of another child left in a sweltering  car to die or fires in drought filled areas all over the world...no water, no growth, no cooling...death...

In our spiritual lives, we need that cultivation, that Water of Life to live...sending out new roots, budding, flourishing with life...if we become “unhooked”, we dry up, we die as well...

Thank YOU again and again... for your life giving water...help us stay attuned to your Word which refreshes our lives...helping us grow, bloom where we are...

14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 4:14

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
John 7:37-38

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
Hebrews 10:19-24

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ ”
Revelation 7:17

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.
Revelation 21:6
