Hearing the birds sing...
Recently, I went to a community which was having multiple garage sales. I could park in one place, walk around the area, perusing the various sales...the birds were singing in the trees, the smell of roses permeated early morning air...
It struck me, that I was missing my early morning walks...I had gotten lazy and just used my treadmill lately and not gotten out ....you know all the excuses—-I can tread in my pjs, weather, new neighborhood, etc, etc, etc..— but, I was missing some life outside my domain...
I was missing the morning smells, the bacon, the burned toast, the roses, the blooming trees, the new mown lawns...the fresh air before the drivers hit the road...
I was missing the wildlife, the squirrels running to and fro gathering their meals, the red-winged black bird scolding me for nearing her nest, the mother duck hiding in the rushes, the quail quickly camouflaging into the weeds...
I was missing out...on the joy...that all these bring...they may seem inconsequential, but they lift my spirit in a way I can’t even describe...the newness of each day...the creation which the Creator made for my enjoyment...
Thank YOU...
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning —the sixth day.
Genesis 1:31
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
Psalm 5:3
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
Psalm 59:16
The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
Psalm 65:8
