Dysfunctions….

 Dysfunction….

I have heard that some people aren’t interested in the Word because it doesn’t address “real” life, “it has no help for me”,  and other similar opinions…

From beginning to end there are real people going through real life situations…there are

Prideful…

Murderers…

Adulterers…

Drunks…

Self-centered…

Doubters…

Thieves…

Jealousness…

Prostitutes…

Wicked…

Liars…

Cheaters…

Etc…

Etc…

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 (written about 50 AD)

Centuries before the Ten Commandments addressed some of the same issues…

Just like today’s population…we really haven’t changed, just some new names on old situations…

Families today are going through the same dysfunctions that have happened for centuries…”nothing new under the sun”.

The words of encouragement are still the same now as then…

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Against such things there is no law.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.

Each one should test their own actions.

Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load. Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 5:22-6:6,10

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Mark 2:17

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

Thank YOU that You have made a way…for all who seek You…
