Women who knew Jesus…

Women who knew Jesus…

Sometimes women get a bad rap….I have lived to see more and more women enter the work force, run huge companies, the “feminist” move, be discriminated on wage issues…etc…polarized, marginalized,  respected, disrespected, called good and bad names, used, abused…and so much more…

This is a spin-off of the sermon I heard this weekend…the missionary spoke of two evangelists, Jesus and the woman at the well…

When I think of women who knew Jesus I think of faithful women…

Mary, his mother was obedient…

Mary and Martha were friends who cared and listened…

The woman who touched his robe had faith for healing…

The woman caught in adultery was forgiven…

The woman at the well believed and told others…

Others served, worshipped, were taught…

Even the  mother of the little boy, who gave his lunch to feed others, provided and cared for her son…

Women searched for him after his death, were comforted and overjoyed at his resurrection…

Many articles, books have been written on this subject…I am not here to  really add to those words by scholars…I am just thankful to be valued, comforted, saved …by the same redeemer those women of long ago knew, befriended, worshiped…

Thank YOU…

And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Luke 1:38

….And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

Luke 2:51b

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

Matthew 28:1-9

And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” ]]
