Psalm 32:1-5

 Psalm 32:1-5

Forgiveness has been God’s plan since the beginning…

He told Moses, revealed it in  the psalms, and showed it through Jesus…how great a gift…

Forgiven….

sin covered…

Doesn’t count our sins against us…

The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.” And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped.

Exod.34.6-8

The ultimate gift of forgiveness….

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

“As you read these psalms, note the pattern followed by the psalmists in responding to God…

They recognize their sinfulness..

They realized that sin was rebellion against God himself….

They admitted their sins to God…

They trusted in God’s willingness to forgive….

They accepted his forgiveness….

Similar psalm that emphasize these themes-6;14; 31; 32; 38; 41; 51; 102; 130; 143” Bible study notes…

 1. Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

You forgave the iniquity of your people;you covered all their sin. Selah

Ps.85.2

 2. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”

Rom.4.7-8

that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

2Cor.5.19

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”

John.1.47

3.For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing;my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.

Ps.31.10

4. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah

5. I acknowledged my sin to you,and I did not cover my iniquity;I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

Prov.28.13

as far as the east is from the west,so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Ps.103.12

“But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me,

Lev.26.40
