Namesakes…
I couldn’t sleep earlier this morning so I looked for pictures in my online albums…I realized that some of my grandchildren may not have pictures of people they were named after…
It brought to mind a Norman Rockwell picture where he painted people from different generations who never knew one another…but were painted together like they did…
So I was on the hunt to pick out pictures of people who have long passed, but their namesakes are living…
When we picked out our children’s name, we picked by meaning and then added a family name…
We have, “like a fox “, “liberty”, “beloved” and “chosen”…they fit at birth and they still do…their other names from grandparents fit as well…one even has the same birthday as a great grandmother …
Meaning of names were important in Bible Times in the Bible…they may have meant a family name, a historical event, a prophecy, their place in history, their place in life…etc…
“The name David is of Hebrew origin, derived from the word dāwīḏ, which means "beloved." This name embodies a sense of affection and closeness, reflecting the character of David as a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). The significance of being "beloved" extends beyond personal relationships; it illustrates the intimate bond that God desires with His people.”

David, a man who was king, but wrote soooo many of the Psalms… which brings us to such a love relationship with God, our refuge, our Creator…
I will bless the Lord at all times;his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,and let us exalt his name together!
Ps.34.1-3
Thank YOU…
The names of God…
