Psalm 27:1-4… light and fears….

 Psalm 27:1-4… light and fears…

Right now cancer is a reality for me…I really don’t want to be known as the woman with cancer…there is so much more to life than that…but I don’t want to fear to assail or trap me…I want live while I can…be apart of life that revolves around. ….every time I go to the cancer center, I see despair…the staff is amazing with smiles and encouragement…they to brighten everyone’s day with encouraging words…

I realize this psalm may not be about cancer, but that is the way it spoke to me…

I like the words…

Light…

salvation…

No fear…

Stronghold…

Strength…

Song…

Love…

Enemies stumbling….not winning…

Confidence…

Hope…

integrity…

Thank YOU ….

 1. The Lord is my light and my salvation;whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;of whom shall I be afraid?

 The sun shall be no more your light by day,nor for brightness shall the moon give you light;but the Lord will be your everlasting light,and your God will be your glory.

Your sun shall no more go down,nor your moon withdraw itself;for the Lord will be your everlasting light,and your days of mourning shall be ended.

Isa.60.19-20

 The Lord is my strength and my song,and he has become my salvation;this is my God, and I will praise him,my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Exod.15.2

 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John.8.12

 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.What can man do to me?Ps.118.6

“ fear is a dark shadow that envelops us and ultimately imprisons us within ourselves….if we want to dispel the darkness of fear, we need to remember with the psalmist that “the LORD is my light

and my salvation.” Bible study notes…

 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

1John.4.18

2. When evildoers assail me-to eat up my flesh,my adversaries and foes,it is they who stumble and fall.

 When my enemies turn back,they stumble and perish before your presence.

Ps.9.3

 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the Lord?

Ps.14.4

3..Though an army encamp against me,my heart shall not fear;though war arise against me,yet I will be confident.

 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.

Ps.3.6

 Is not your fear of God your confidence,and the integrity of your ways your hope?

Job.4.6

4. One thing have I asked of the Lord,that will I seek after:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,and establish the work of our hands upon us;yes, establish the work of our hands!

Ps.90.17

 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me-all the days of my life,and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Ps.23.6

 O Lord, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells.

Ps.26.8

Today…

 Today….

 This is the day that the Lord has made;let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Ps.118.24

Last night I watched a partial speech given by a young widow whose husband was killed before a crowd a few short weeks ago.  personally I had never heard about him until that day….

She said he would ask himself these three questions everyday…

“1.  What can I do for someone today?

2. What is something I can add value to the world today?

3. How can I honor God today?”

I thought of those questions this morning as I was reading this  portion of scripture…apparently this young man was getting death threats and still he stood his ground. His desire was to live for the Lord…just as David did…no matter the circumstances…

 The Lord is my light and my salvation;whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;

of whom shall I be afraid?

When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh,my adversaries and foes,it is they who stumble and fall.

Though an army encamp against me,my heart shall not fear;

though war arise against me,yet I will be confident.

Ps.27.1,Ps.27.2,Ps.27.3”

“He ( the pastor) spoke to them of Jesus’ love and the need for every Christian to grow to be the kind of Christian whom God could use in His service. He spoke of the need to do something with their lives instead of wasting the time God gave people here on earth…”…Darlene Mindrup…

Each day is important…and each person has a purpose, a plan…

I Corinthians 12,14…

Romans 12…

 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith.

And this is not your own doing;

it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Eph.2.4-10

Thank YOU…

Room. 7….

 Room 7…

Yesterday my infusion room was number 7, my favorite…I have had it all seasons except winter and if infusions go well, I may have it this winter this year sometime…

Rooms 4-7 face the outside with ceiling to floor glass looking out on different views of a fresh water feature, Lilly pads, lilies, fish, maybe a duck or two, a large  pruned shrub-with dozens of bird nests and bird feeders…

But room 7 has a platform birder low to the ground next to the window…so low-feeding birds feed are there as well as the high-feeding birds …and now the squirrels have added their antics to the show…

Yesterday, someone had placed a large block of bird seed on the platform as well as peanuts …it was busy! Towhees, doves, sparrows, little snow birds and finally the squirrels who would zoom through quickly while the birds would flutter up, then settle down, eating with gusto…the squirrels would finally get their chance and one at a time would sit, flicking their tail, while eating the peanuts like corn on the cob, moving their tiny paws back and forth…

This is small pleasure at the cancer center…you are there for a much harder reason…so little pleasures are not taken lightly…

 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matt.6.25-34

 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,

Matt.10.30-32

Thank YOU….

This a song from the past, but so good…

His eye is on the sparrow…

Psalm 25:16-22

 Psalm 25:16-22

Loneliness….reading the first verse of this section, the word lonely comes up…that word only comes up three times in the Bible search, synonyms come up though…I thought about it…raised as an only child, on ranches in California, I never really thought about being lonely…there was always something to do…animals, other ranching families, get togethers, school…I was never bored…even after I got married, before children, my husband was away a lot of the time with geology exploration…then of course children don’t leave you lonely, with their chatter, activities…even widowhood has not been lonely( it’s not something I would choose and I do miss my husband)……I have come to realize that loneliness can be a choice and in some ways, I have been trained to be alone over the experiences of my life…God has always been there to talk to, listen…I am so grateful for Him…he may not be an audible voice, but he is there all the same…

thank YOU….

16.Turn to me and be gracious to me,for I am lonely and afflicted.

all her friends have dealt treacherously with her;

 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

For my brothers and companions' sake I will say, “Peace be within you!”

For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,I will seek your good.

Healing Prayer For A Lonely Person

Oh Lord, I am ill and feel frightened and alone as I have no one to care for me. I have no one who is really interested in me at all, and I feel lost and alone and so vulnerable. And now Lord Jesus, I have come down with this sickness and I feel so ill. Lord, I ask You please to make me well again soon, and lift up my sagging spirit, I pray.

I know Lord in my heart that I am not alone, because You are with me, which is the real reason that I am praying to You now, because You promised to be with me and never to leave me or forsake me, even when everyone else does. Be with me now I pray, and reach out Your healing hand of blessing and touch me Lord. Please make me feel better, not only in my body but also in my life, I pray.

Thank You, that I can call on You in times of trouble or illness or loneliness, and know that You are always there to hear and answer, to heal and comfort and help. Lord, I pray that You would help me to really apply this truth in my life, not just when I am sick, but every day.

Amen.

“Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.”

(Psalm 25:16)”

Searching for answers…

 Searching for answers….

I just turned the page from Psalm 20 to 21…

A note in the margin says, “Don home going in 2012”….14 years ago, we were going from doctor to doctor trying to find out why he was having trouble with his balance. One doc said this, another doctor had another theory….we didn’t know until they  wheeled him in for a scan…those results were hard to even comprehend, not him….a picture of health…he was just having balance issues not  a terminal brain tumor that would take his life within 6 months…

But, reading this Psalm 21, one written by a king thousands of years ago, when he was praising God for Victory, was apropos …my husband gave God the glory for his victories even when times looked bleak…

Thank YOU…

 O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,and in your salvation how greatly he exults!

You have given him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah

For you meet him with rich blessings;

you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.

He asked life of you;

you gave it to him,length of days forever and ever.

His glory is great through your salvation;

splendor and majesty you bestow on him.

For you make him most blessed forever;

you make him glad with the joy of your presence.

For the king trusts in the Lord,and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.

Ps.21.1-7

“David described all that he had as gifts from God…”the desire of his heart”, rich blessings, a crown of pure gold, long life, splendor, and majesty, eternal blessings, gladness. We too must  look upon all we have-position, family wealth, talent-as gifts from God. Only then will we use them to give glory back to him…….

A good leader trusts the Lord and depends upon his unfailing love. Too often leaders trust is their own cleverness, popular support, or military power.But God is above all these”gods”. If you aspire to leadership, keep the Lord God at the center of your life and depend on him. His wisdom is the best strength you can have…” Bible study notes…

 I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;incline your ear to me; hear my words. Wondrously show your steadfast love,O Savior of those who seek refuge from  their adversaries at your right hand.

God loved us first…

 God loved us first…

When I was younger, awaiting the arrival of my children…I loved them before I even knew them…I prepared for each one, gathering clothing, equipment, diapers, even some extra rest when I could…the ones I bore, I felt them move within me, a flutter here and there, to hiccups and painful kicking….the ones we adopted, I read their stories, waited until we finally got the go ahead to pick them up…I loved each one in preparation to love them more through time…I still do, plus now I get to love the grandchildren and great grandchildren before they are born as well…

Honestly, there were some bad times, trying times, angry times, rebellious times, but I still loved them through it all…

God knew what he was creating  when he created man after his own image…he could look down through time and see the rebellion, the rejection, the hard and good times…he knew yet he still created us…he still loved us first! He chose a people, and made a nation of them…

He knew he would send His son as a much needed savior…he knew he would not only have a chosen nation, but would include the gentiles into this love. Until he desired that none should perish…he knew he would send missionaries to the ends of the earth to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus and his salvation….

He loved us first…

Thank YOU…

 “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

Deut.7.6-9

 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Deut.14.2

 O offspring of Israel his servant,children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

1Chr.16.13

 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from deathand keep them alive in Ps.33.12,Ps.33.18,Ps.33.19

 But you, Israel, my servant,Jacob, whom I have chosen,the offspring of Abraham, my friend; you whom I took from the ends of the earth,and called from its farthest corners,saying to you, “You are my servant,I have chosen you and not cast you off”; Behold my servant, whom I uphold,my chosen, in whom my soul delights;I have put my Spirit upon him;he will bring forth justice to the nations.

Isa.41.8,Isa.41.9,Isa.42.1

 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.

Rom.11.5

 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Col.3.12-7

 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1Pet.2.9-10

 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1John.4.10

 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matt.28.19,Matt.28.20

 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts.1.7,Acts.1.8

Will not slumber…

 Will not slumber…

One of my daughters told me about a surgery that I don’t remember having last year…what I do remember is the immense pain around some point of time…I remember lying somewhere and praying for the pain to subside…saying over and over,

“God, please, please take me Home or take the pain away, I can’t endure any longer.” I have no time frame of how long that went on…but, the pain went away…and He chose to keep me here on earth for another period of time…

He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber (Psalm 121:3 NIV).

I don’t understand God’s sovereignty…what he decides to do or not to do…it is a hard concept…and way too big for my finite mind..I know He makes the decisions…is victorious, loving/compassionate, all knowing , all powerful, his word never comes back empty, does not slumber, he has a plan and so much more…..

Thank YOU….

“What does it mean that God is sovereign?

ANSWER

God’s sovereignty is one of the most important principles in Christian theology, as well as one of its most hotly debated. Whether or not God is actually sovereign is usually not a topic of debate; all mainstream Christian sects agree that God is preeminent in power and authority. God’s sovereignty is a natural consequence of His omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence. What’s subject to disagreement is to what extent God applies His sovereignty—specifically, how much control He exerts over the wills of men. When we speak of the sovereignty of God, we mean He rules the universe, but then the debate begins over when and where His control is direct and when it is indirect.

God is described in the Bible as all-powerful and all-knowing (Psalm 147:5), outside of time (Exodus 3:14; Psalm 90:2), and responsible for the creation of everything (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1). These divine traits set the minimum boundary for God’s sovereign control in the universe, which is to say that nothing in the universe occurs without God’s permission. God has the power and knowledge to prevent anything He chooses to prevent, so anything that does happen must, at the very least, be “allowed” by God.

At the same time, the Bible describes God as offering humanity choices (Deuteronomy 30:15–19), holding them personally responsible for their sins (Exodus 20:5), and being unhappy with some of their actions (Numbers 25:3). The fact that sin exists at all proves that not all things that occur are the direct actions of God, who is holy. The reality of human volition (and human accountability) sets the maximum boundary for God’s sovereign control over the universe, which is to say there is a point at which God chooses to allow things that He does not directly cause.

The fact that God is sovereign essentially means that He has the power, wisdom, and authority to do anything He chooses within His creation. Whether or not He actually exerts that level of control in any given circumstance is actually a completely different question. Often, the concept of divine sovereignty is oversimplified. We tend to assume that, if God is not directly, overtly, purposefully driving some event, then He is somehow not sovereign. The cartoon version of sovereignty depicts a God who must do anything that He can do, or else He is not truly sovereign.

Of course, such a cartoonish view of God’s sovereignty is logically false. If a man were to put an ant in a bowl, the “sovereignty” of the man over the ant is not in doubt. The ant may try to crawl out, and the man may not want this to happen. But the man is not forced to crush the ant, drown it, or pick it up. The man, for reasons of his own, may choose to let the ant crawl away, but the man is still in control. There is a difference between allowing the ant to leave the bowl and helplessly watching as it escapes. The cartoon version of God’s sovereignty implies that, if the man is not actively holding the ant inside the bowl, then he must be unable to keep it in there at all.

The illustration of the man and the ant is at least a vague parallel to God’s sovereignty over mankind. God has the ability to do anything, to take action and intervene in any situation, but He often chooses to act indirectly or to allow certain things for reasons of His own. His will is furthered in any case. God’s “sovereignty” means that He is absolute in authority and unrestricted in His supremacy. Everything that happens is, at the very least, the result of God’s permissive will. This holds true even if certain specific things are not what He would prefer. The right of God to allow mankind’s free choices is just as necessary for true sovereignty as His ability to enact His will, wherever and however He chooses.

Comfort verses…23…

 Comfort verses…23….

I loved the smells of fall…I got up early this morning turn on a crockpot filled with shredded apples, cranberries, oranges, strawberries, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves….to make crockpot Christmas jam…so the house has that fall warm spice smell that goes with colorful leaves and cool mornings…

Then I read one of Sarah Young’s devotionals from her book “Jesus Calling”… I have read most her books…one particularly got me through my husband’s last few months…it was like God sent a special message just to me everyday as well as a song…those were hard days…but He cared enough to do it….

Thank YOU….

Psalm 20 song…

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV).

I’m pleading with you, Yahweh, help me! Don’t close your ears to my cry, for you’re my defender (Psalm‬ 28:1‬ TPT‬‬).

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23:6 NKJV).

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 NIV).

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6 NIV).

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand (Psalm 139:17-18 NIV).

So the wall was finished in fifty-two days. And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God

 (Nehemiah 6:15-16 ESV

When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it” (John 11:4 NIV).

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are the work of your hand (Isaiah 64:8 NIV).

 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!

May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!

May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah

May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans!

May we shout for joy over your salvation,and in the name of our God set up our banners!

May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;

he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

They collapse and fall,but we rise and stand upright. O Lord, save the king!

May he answer us when we call…

Ps.20.1-9

“Heaven’s my throne, earth is my footstool. What sort of house could you build for me? What holiday spot reserve for me? I made all this! I own all this!” God’s Decree. “But there is something I’m looking for: a person simple and plain, reverently responsive to what I say” (Isaiah 66:2 MSG).

 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Some trust in chariots….

 Some trust in chariots….

There are so many battles going on in the world…nations against nations…people against people, addictions, health, financial, city councils, emotional, …you name it we see battles ….some over petty things, some over land, over relationships, religious rights, speak rights, water rights, even living rights….

Politics aside, you could watch a peace treaty signed this week that was monumental…on the other hand, you wondered how long it would hold…the joy of hostages being reunited with family and loved ones was amazing, tear jerking to say the least…30 plus nations actually coming together to hopefully help in the rebuilding of a people group…but the enemy still lurks  nearby….battles still to be fought….

We may all have battles, some obvious, some not so obvious…

I was reminded today in Psalm 20 in whom  is worthy of our trust….not chariots, war horses, bombs, intel, ships, planes…but we trust in the Lord our God…He alone is our final Victor…he goes before us, with us , behind us…

Thank YOU…

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 20:7

 The war horse is a false hope for salvation,and by its great might it cannot rescue.

Ps.33.17

 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses,who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong,but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!

Isa.31.1

 With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.”

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure….

 One man’s trash is another man’s treasure…

When  I was in Honduras several years ago, one the sights I saw  was street artwork using plastic caps from all the plastic bottles. I think of that artwork often as I drink various drinks from plastic bottles…the artist saw something beautiful from the various colors and blessed others with their art work…taking something simple and mundane making it special…

There are so many stories in the Bible of the same kind of ideas…

The loaves and fish of a small boy feeding five thousand…the coin or lamb that were lost,  the floating axe head, the sand and rock foundations, mud to heal the eyes…drawing in the dirt…pottery molded by the master’s hand…water turned into wine…a wooden cross, a manger…to name a few…all are simple things used by the Artist of the universe…to show beauty, to show life lessons, to teach…it illustrate…to show infinite love or judgement…

Nothing is wasted in the Word of God…

Thank YOU…

Death would not be my choice of topics…but it does come up in the Bible…it is a natural event and all of us face…when you get a cancer or other life threatening diagnosis…it is front and center…we celebrate Easter as the resurrection of Christ, pointing out that we, as believers,  will face that resurrection power as well…but, still we cling to earthly life because we want to be around family, or we don’t want to see our family go through the grief of losing a loved one…we don’t want pain or the process of dying…loss of control…

“David stated confidently that God would not leave him to die on the grace…as believers, we can be assured that .god will not forget us when we die.He will bring us to life again to live with him forever.” Bible Study Notes

We have this promise….

 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

John.14.2-3

 Thank YOU…

A few references to resurrection…

 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;

in the night also my heart instructs me.

I have set the Lord always before me;

because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;

my flesh also dwells secure.

For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,or let your holy one see corruption.

Psalm 16:7-10

 For I know that my Redeemer lives,and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed,yet in my flesh I shall see God,

Job.19.25-26

 Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!For your dew is a dew of light,and the earth will give birth to the dead.

Isa.26.19

 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Dan.12.2

  But go your way till the end. And you shall rest and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days.”

Dan.12.13

 And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Mark.13.27

 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory?O death, where is your sting?” But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

1Cor.15.51,1Cor.15.52,1Cor.15.53,1Cor.15.54,1Cor.15.55,1Cor.15.57,1Cor.15.58

1 Corinthians 15:12-58

 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

Revelations 20:11-21:4

You make known to me the path of life;

in your presence there is fullness of joy;

at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Somebody bigger than you and I….

 Somebody bigger than you and I….

I was awakened with this song this morning….an old singer from my childhood…but, he made this song popular…we had it on the radio, records, and he sang it on TV regularly as did other music artists…

It seemed fitting to go,with this 16 th Psalm for today….

 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;I have no good apart from you.” As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,in whom is all my delight.

The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;

their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips.

The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;you hold my lot.

The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;

in the night also my heart instructs me.

I have set the Lord always before me;

because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;

my flesh also dwells secure.

For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,or let your holy one see corruption.

You make known to me the path of life;

in your presence there is fullness of joy;

at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Ps.16.1-11

Harvest time….

 Harvest time….

This month my church celebrates harvest time…as a missionary emphasis….with a special speaker, special music, a huge potluck, prayer times, offerings and gifts…maybe some fall decorations….

Although we should be giving throughout the year, this time really emphasizes the giving for the missionaries…then those gifts are distributed the for upcoming holidays…not all of us can go to Africa, Indonesia, South America,  and so many other places on the globe…but, we can be mission minded for the neighbors next door, the teller at the bank or the cashier at the local markets, etc…

Yesterday I had the privilege to speak via Zoom with some Young Life leaders in South America about the challenges of support for leaders there who work with teens, young mothers, students with various physical challenges…they are doing a tremendous work…and are in need of prayer for strength, stamina, building relationships, a Godly walk while they are sowing seeds of the gospel…

They brought up these verses…they challenge us in our generosity both missionaries close by and those a continent away..

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.

You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.

Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

2Cor.9:10-15

The sower and the seed, enriching one another, service, contributions, inexpressible gift. Each of us has a particular plan, gifts, talents and they benefit one another…let us do it cheerfully and in abundance…

Thanks YOU…

Psalm 15

 Home…

I live in idaho, the treasure valley…wherever you go houses, businesses, huge buildings, roads are being built, expanded, re aligned….beautiful farm ground is being torn up and destroyed….one day, I set out for my accountant’s office…not too far from me…I ended up taking 6 detours to get there…needless to say I took a different route coming home…traffic has increased exponentially, now you wait through two or three lights instead on one get through an intersection….

While I appreciate the growth, I miss the smaller feel of the area when I moved here…thousands on new homes in not small town…

On the upside, there are many new churches as well…those that teach the Word of God…for those who want to hear and do it…

Psalm 15 speaks  of who can dwell in God’s sanctuary…

These are the people I would like for my new neighbors in this growing population….those who seek after God…and I actually have neighbors who do which is a blessing….

 O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?

Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart;

who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor,

nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

in whose eyes a vile person is despised,

but who honors those who fear the Lord;

who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things shall never be moved.

Ps.15.1-5

Thank YOU….

Dwelling place…

 Dwelling place…

We all seek safe shelter, a dwelling place…David asked about shelter and who may dwell there…there are guidelines…found later in the the psalm…and others…

But dwelling place is found other places it is found as well…and that is what caught heart time around…where do we find peace of mind, sanctuary…

I had a picture of a small bird nested in the crags of a rock just above the crashing waves of the ocean…she sat on her tiny eggs totally at ease…waiting for her eggs to hatch, even though the waves crashed around her…we want that peace of mind when the world is crashing  around us as well…

God is our peace, our dwelling place …he gives us comfort in times of trouble, crashing waves…

Thank YOU…

David asks…

“LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?

Who may live on your holy hill?…..”

Psalm 15:1

He asks again in psalms 24, 27..

 “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart,who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

Ps.24.3-5

 One thing have I asked of the Lord,that will I seek after:that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble;he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;he will lift me high upon a rock.

And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me,and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy;I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

Ps.27.4-6

Spoken from Moses to the tribe of Asher…

“ The eternal God is your dwelling place,and underneath are the everlasting arms…..

Psalm 84 written down by the Sons of Koran…

 How lovely is your dwelling place,O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord;my heart and flesh sing for joyto the living God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house,ever singing your praise!

Selah For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Ps.84.1-2,Ps.84.4,Ps.84.10

Paul to the Ephesians…

 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.

In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Eph.2.12-22

John in Revelations…

 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.

He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Rev.21.1-4
